A world in motion

Go beyond the next hill.

Brushbound is an evolving action adventure built around the feeling that the world keeps going. Meadows give way to forests, mountains, deserts, swamps, volcanoes, and villages where weary travelers can rest.

The terrain, encounters, and discoveries change as you travel. Each expedition has its own rhythm—and its own reasons to turn around for one more look.

01

Wandering plains

Open skies, old roads, and the first hint of danger.

02

Ancient forests

Layered canopies hide paths, predators, and shelter.

03

High country

Broken ground and cold peaks reward careful footing.

04

Firelit villages

Rest, trade, and prepare for the road ahead.

What's new

Notes from the wilds.

A short record of the new adventures, challenges, and tools added to Brushbound.

v0.11.0

Rootbound routes find their footing

  • Shift now sprints, while holding Ctrl crouches with a lower painted stance and a reduced enemy hitbox.
  • Rootbound's thornpath credit now follows the marked forest encounters instead of generic early-zone defeats.
  • After a defeat, use the return portal in town to travel once back to the place you fell.
  • Overlapping obstacle clearances now blend continuously, eliminating abrupt terrain walls along the trail.
  • Choose a separate 10-minute combat diagnostic capture to record bounded attack, projectile, and collision outcomes for troubleshooting.
v0.10.0

Priority targets enter Inkfen

  • Break the Warder's single-ally guard before committing to its protected crossfire.
  • Interrupt the Binder's tell or step out of its short-lived painted mire.
  • Stop the Herald before it empowers a readable attack, then use cover or dodge its lane.
v0.9.0

Inkfen wakes

  • Continue the First Journey beyond Ochre Reach into Inkfen, with a new safe stop at the far village.
  • Choose among three swamp commissions, then face the Reed Warden beyond the blackwater.
  • Earn Fenstride and carry the marsh's quick footing into every trail ahead.
v0.8.5

Smoother fights on a clearer trail

  • Forest encounter obstacles are now recognizable logs and stumps that remain stable while they are on screen.
  • Running into the side of an obstacle no longer snaps the player onto its top.
  • Melee enemies advance smoothly without teleporting through terrain, and every weapon pose now shows both arms.
v0.8.4

A better-proportioned wayfarer

  • The player now fits more naturally beside Mira and village buildings.
  • One-handed weapon poses keep the free arm clearly visible instead of hiding it inside the coat.
  • Melee enemies now strike without snapping forward, and charged attackers stop at solid obstacles.
v0.8.3

An open trail through every encounter

  • Tactical cover now works as a one-way platform instead of sealing the only road forward.
  • Rootwalls and sandstone cover have visible openings that make the route immediately readable.
  • Optional bonus marks now sit clear of obstacles and explicitly show where to stand.
v0.8.2

Clear footing on the painted trail

  • The player now has exactly two naturally connected arms and clearly planted boots.
  • Jumping beside logs and rocks no longer snaps the player onto their tops.
  • Every wilderness obstacle now has a level runway for a fair approach and landing.
v0.8.1

A clearer cast of painted travelers

  • The player now has a distinct explorer design with smoother painted animation.
  • Walking, sprinting, and jumping keep both feet and legs in natural poses.
  • Mira now stands at village scale with her feet planted on the path.
v0.8.0

Move through a living canvas

  • Jumps now follow a smooth arc across rising and falling terrain instead of hovering above it.
  • The player now has painted idle, walking, sprinting, jumping, aiming, and weapon attack animation.
  • Mira waits naturally and beckons when she has a commission ready for you.
v0.7.2

Meet Mira Bramble

  • Mira now appears as a detailed painted character beside First Lantern's commission board.
  • Commission and journey panels stay centered without shifting the painted world.
v0.7.1

A clearer view on touch screens

  • The touch HUD now keeps the center of the painted world clear during combat and village visits.
  • Actions and weapon switching live in a compact edge drawer with aligned, easier-to-read controls.
  • Biome, journey, encounter, and village notices no longer pile on top of one another.
v0.7.0

Fight through painted set pieces

  • Forest and Desert encounters now open with readable cues and distinct tactical goals.
  • Use rootwalls, sandstone cover, and raised perches to reshape each fight.
  • Optional painted marks reward explorers without blocking the trail forward.
v0.6.0

Bind a signature technique

  • Expedition techniques are now active choices instead of permanent bonuses that all stack together.
  • Rootbound Rhythm anchors a defensive stand, while Sirocco Tempo powers a fast-moving skirmisher.
  • Swap your technique freely in villages, then trigger it from a keyboard or touch-friendly action with clear cooldown feedback.
v0.5.0

The road to First Lantern

  • Three painted landmarks now turn the safe Sunwash Plains opening into a short authored prologue.
  • First Lantern has a named arrival and a visible Mira Bramble waiting beside the commission board.
  • Mira now introduces the first destination, objective, guardian, and technique reward before the journey begins.
v0.4.0

Keep your guest adventurer

  • Creating an account can now preserve the multiplayer guest you were just playing.
  • Returning players can keep, replace, or safely merge their account and guest characters.
  • One-time handoffs protect inventory, currency, levels, commissions, techniques, and location.
v0.3.1

Smoother, safer combat

  • Combat knockback can no longer push the player through rising terrain or obstacles.
  • Desktop rendering now targets a steadier cadence and adapts quickly to frame-time spikes.
  • Opt-in telemetry can identify future terrain recoveries and world-streaming stalls.
v0.3.0

The First Journey

  • Forest and Desert expeditions now follow authored approach, objective, guardian, and safe-village route legs.
  • Biome attacks can inflict readable conditions that create new combat reactions and cleansing choices.
  • Elite enemies now arrive with deterministic Bulwark, Echo, Rallying, or Mirage mutations and richer rewards.
v0.2.2

Cleaner touch controls

  • Mobile menus and weapon switching now stay inside one compact flyout.
  • Jump and one contextual off-hand or block action remain immediately available.
  • Touch prompts use plain action names instead of keyboard shortcuts.
v0.2.1

Safer journeys

  • Solo saves now migrate safely as Brushbound grows, with backup, recovery, and export tools.
  • Account characters now retry delayed saves and keep newer world progress through a server restart.
  • Expanded browser checks help keep solo, multiplayer, touch, and reconnect play dependable.
v0.2.0

Ochre Reach expedition

  • Carry your trail folio into Ochre Reach after completing Rootbound Forest.
  • Choose one of three Desert commissions and fight through three handcrafted encounter formations.
